What are you doing to become everything you’ve ever dreamed of being?
I was scrolling through Pinterest the other day and I came across a quote that read: “You Owe It To Yourself To Become Everything You've Ever Dreamed Of.” Inspired, I added it to my “Self-Love and Humor” board.
I knew immediately in my heart what I dreamt of being, but I wasn’t putting in the amount of time I knew I had to get there. To give myself some credit, I started this blog. I make art from time to time, but I’ve noticed that I’ve spent a lot of time scrolling for ideas and watching how-to videos on Youtube rather than doing the actual work that it takes to become the artist I dream of being.
It’s easy to fantasize and imagine myself already there, but in reality it’s been a challenge in facing the failures and learning curves that comes with building the skills I need to bring my imagination to life.
Later that day, I had the urge to design a new wallpaper for my phone. So I took that opportunity and my desire to design a new wallpaper using that quote that snapped me out of my daydreams. (The wallpaper is down below. Feel free to save it to use for your wallpaper)
I know that me 5 years from now would either feel remorse that I didn’t spend more time building my skills and dedicating my free time to doing things I valued, or feel proud of how far I’ve come with new knowledge and developed skills. The me right now, knows that regret.
If you’re struggling with similar feelings here are some questions you can ask yourself throughout your day:
What am I prioritizing right now?
Where did most of my down time go to today outside of work?
What habits do I need to work on?
What bad habits do I need to learn to undo?
What skill do I want to dedicate at least 10 minutes of my time to each day?
